Where Import is in Tipmik
While you set up Tipmik, one of the first questions is “Coming from another app?” Pick your app there and choose the file. It waits on your phone until setup is done, then Tipmik reads it.
Already set up? Open More → Import from another app. Each import is listed there.
What Tipmik does with the file
The file is read on Tipmik's server, so every app's export goes through the same rules.
- CSV or Excel. A CSV file, or an Excel workbook, including the older .xls kind TipSee backs up to.
- Damaged text is repaired. ServerLife's export garbles apostrophes, quote marks and dashes in notes; they're put back.
- Every row is sorted. Each row becomes a shift, a paycheck or a day off. Paychecks and days off aren't counted as shifts, and you can include a paycheck as a shift if that's what it was.
- Gig work stays apart. Rows for Uber, DoorDash, Instacart and other gig platforms become contractor jobs, and what a run paid is recorded as pay, not tips.
- Missing hours are estimated. A row with tips but no hours gets the usual length of that job's shifts, marked as estimated and left out of every hourly figure.
- You check it first. “Check, then import” lists what will be added and what was skipped. Nothing is added until you tap Import.
- No doubles. Shifts Tipmik already has are skipped: same job, day, times and amounts, never the day alone.
- Undo for 30 days. From More → Import from another app, undo deletes that import's shifts, and the jobs it added unless you've used them since.
